    Teaching

Scott teaches a variety of courses in evolutionary biology, ornithology and population genetics. In addition, many postdocs in the lab find that becoming a Teaching Fellow for LifeSci 2 is a good way to stretch funds and get some valuable experience teaching in a large survey course in genetics and evolution.Graduate students in the lab are often recruited to act as Teaching Fellows for these courses.

Overview of the Edwards Lab - OEB/MCZ

Lab motto: We are evolutionary biologists in the broadest sense, focusing on questions from genome evolution to adaptive radiation. For lack of a better phrase, our motto is "molecular ecology with an edge". By this we mean we focus on a diversity of problems in evolutionary biology and evolutionary genetics, employing cutting edge approaches that emphasize population genetics. For us the genetic markers we employ are just as important in the design of a research project as the species we study or the problem we seek to answer. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows,...

    Prospective Students and Postdocs

    Notes to prospective graduate students
Thank you for your interest in our laboratory. Here are some things to think about if you are curious about life in the Edwards lab.

The main things we look for in prospective graduate students are research experience, curiosity and a breadth of interest, from molecules to ecology. Laboratories that study birds tend to attract students interested in ecology and behavior, and we share those interests. However, for better or worse, we tend to see most of biology through the lens of genetics...
