Lauren Bartel is a Harvard College student (Class of 2026) concentrating in Integrative  Biology with a secondary in Anthropology. A member of the Edwards Lab since 2023, her research interests include evolutionary biology, conservation genetics, and phylogeography. She conducts research in molecular evolution and comparative genomics.

Outside the lab, Lauren serves on the Harvard Museums of Science & Culture student board, is co-president of the Harvard Design Collective, an officer of the Salon for the Sciences & Humanities, and leads several community initiatives. She is also an award-winning writer and visual artist whose creative work complements her scientific pursuits. Lauren plans to pursue a Ph.D. in biology and is committed to integrating science, storytelling, and education for global impact.
