Ashwin is a sophomore at the College concentrating in Integrative Biology. He is broadly interested in evolutionary novelty, constraint, and the emergence of complex morphological and behavioral phenotypes. He is especially fascinated by avian migration, a spectacular and variable syndrome with a complex genetic-cultural basis. As an undergraduate working in the Edwards Lab, he studies the allometry of wing shape adaptation to migratory and sedentary life histories in Song Sparrow (*Melospiza melodia*) populations, as well as the role of transfer RNA (tRNA) gene evolution in driving codon bias patterns among vertebrates. Ashwin hopes to integrate diverse genomic, morphological, and ecological datasets to gain holistic insights into organismal biology. In his spare time, Ashwin enjoys birding, biking, playing jazz trumpet, and gardening with native plants.
